Julie’s and Pete’s wedding took place at Welcome Hall in Versailles, KY. Welcome Hall is a 7 generation family owned farm built in 1792. It looks much the same today as it did 200 years ago. Tall trees, limestone fences and horses surround the main house.
The formal garden created in the 1930′s is archived in the Smithsonian Institute. Kentucky native, Jon Carloftis acclaimed garden designer included this garden in his book Hidden Gardens of Kentucky. Welcome Hall is on the front cover.
Julie’s wedding took place in the main garden under a white gazebo.
Flowers were abundant, but not overstyled. The collections of blooms including lisianthus, lilac, garden roses, gerber daisies looked as if it were picked straight from a garden. Amnesia roses and velvety gray leaves of dusty miller speak of centuries old gardens.
Fluffy pink peonies….mmmmmm
Plenty of ribbons and flowers to flutter in the breeze.
Birds are a popular motif for a garden wedding. Centerpieces included bird cages with floral garlands.
Here are the other centerpieces….
And here is a large floral for the food table.
Other fun details…
And finally, here are the floral designers (Windy and Jeanie) after a busy day at work.
